This would really be a boon for those of us who go deep into the weeds on equipment design, as we can make equipment that actually works with the character sheet mechanics. Being able to create a weapon say such as my monks (silvered) three sectional staff. I could use a quarterstaff for stats, but based on it's design it really should be both:
Versatile - holding two sections one handed, and hitting with the third (much like nunchaku) Which the staff already has, but also needs
Finesse - being a swung articulated weapon that isn't heavy like a flail, it uses more motion and speed (dexterity) rather than brute force (strength).
Now I can make up for this short term by changing the "to hit bonus" on the modified quarterstaff I use currently. The problem happens when my ability increases during leveling, or by in game effect my Dexterity raises or lowers.
I think they plan to eventually create a "mundane" homebrew section, but that's likely a long ways off, when they do the homebrew overhaul. For now, I'm pretty sure you can ue the magic item homebrew editor to do what you want, just don't give the weapon a magic bonus.
Any create non-magical section would be nice, not just for armor and weapons. I'd like to add new gem types, new vehicles, and other miscellaneous items.

For gems, it is easiest to create custom items, or the add them to the free text possessions sections.
I just found the "weapon property" section, under modifiers in the magic item creation area. Anyone looking to do similar to what I was later on, that's the section you need.
