Hey y'all so I just ran into an issue with character creation. We're about to start our campaign in 2 days and I was tweaking my character's background and such when I found an issue with the export-to-pdf option. I was going to use a whip (reach of 10ft) but realized that it doesn't really do what I was going for when combined with booming blade (must be used on a creature within 5ft). Now if that was the only issue that's fine whatever.
Reason I'm here is that I was going to basically just rebuild and copy/paste all my chars stuff in a new char to join the campaign with so that whatever dumb glitch was happening with the pdf export would go away. Only problem is that now the warlock patron options are all gone, so I can't rebuild my hexblade how i had it, period. Again our *first* campaign ever starts in 2 days and now my character is gone and can't be recreated because *I'm new here and don't understand things*
Can I please get my hexblade back for this campaign? Really really frustrating and disheartening for a first timer.
For clarity. I had deleted the original character because when I removed a *hexed* whip in favor of a rapier, the PDF export didn't let the whip change out, even though the website showed I had a rapier equipped. Now I'm just kinda stuck without a character cuz I can't just redo it from scratch now.
I'm assuming your DM did content sharing for you to have access to Hexblade through the campaign. What you need to do is ask them for the link to join the campaign with your character, and then once you join, you'll be able to change your patron to Hexblade. Without the content sharing, the patron options are limited unless you own the source books yourself on D&D Beyond.
Either way, let your DM know about what trouble you're having so they can help you.
