I made a homebrew shield, when I wear it, it gives me the normal +2 AC, I gave it a modifier of resistance to necrotic damage and made it require attunement. But when I attune to it, it jumps from +2 to +6 AC.Why is this happening?

And yes, I realize the item name is "bong" but this refers to "shadow" in Vietnamese.

Did you make it from scratch or by copying another magic item?
The shield looks fine - I expect something else on the character sheet (maybe other homebrew). Please can you link to your character sheet?
