I can't seem to find any answer anywhere online, so if I missed it and you can either direct me to it or tell me here, I'll greatly appreciate it.
After 1 year of DMing a rough, improvised, and lazy homebrew campaign (and finally having an income), I decided I want to give me and my players the experience of a properly built official adventure. I'm thinking of running Essentials Kit bundle since it looks to be a friendly adventure for both my casual players and myself. We use D&DB for our character sheets and Roll20 for the VTT, using Beyond20 to tie it all together.
Now, I already know how buying and using adventure books in Roll20 looks like; they build the whole campaign, complete with handouts, npc stat blocks, maps, and preset tokens on said maps. Obviously, I know this won't be the case for D&DB, since there's no VTT (yet?), but I just don't know what will be the case. When you buy an adventure here, do you get the digital book with text, tables, and pictures displayed the same way the Basic Rules work, and we have to copy any maps or pictures we want to use from there? Or do they give us the book with separate map, token, and/or handout files (maybe all together in a downloadable zip file)? Or do they give us a separate pdf that contains all the maps and stuff and we have to snip or print what we need? What exactly does buying an adventure book get me?
If you are buying a full adventure book, you will basically get how the Basic Rules is presented on this site, as well as the data integration with digital tools (databases, character sheet, etc.).
There are no zip nor pdf files. The only zip/jpg file I remember downloading from Beyond are just the Tactical Maps Reincarnated. You can download all other images as you would download any other image on your browser.
Note that all monsters, magic items etc, that are in an adventure are also provided for use in the character sheet / encounter builder, when you purchase an adventure.
