The artificer is supposed to round up when multiclassing. When I have a wizard 7/ Artificer 3 the character is supposed to be a level 9 spellcaster total. In my character sheet, the character is only a level 8 spellcaster.
Has this been fixed? I'm trying to make a 5th level character with 1 level in Artificer 4 Wizard and I should have access to level 3 spells but I don't
For figuring spell slots when multiclassing, you add each level of Wizard, but half the Artificer levels rounded down. So you still only have the slots of a level 4 spellcaster.

You should have the slots of a 5th level caster, but not the spells of one. You learn spells on a class-by-class basis, but slots are universal. Hope that makes sense.

Artificer rounds up. it's the only half-caster that does, per Tasha's. "Spell Slots. Add half your levels (rounded up) in the artificer class to the appropriate levels from other classes to determine your available spell slots."

Oh! You're right! Today I learned :) Will need to file that info in my brain carefully...
(Edit: Aha, I bet it's because Artificers get Spellcasting at level 1 while the other half-casters - Rangers & Paladins - get Spellcasting at level 2. That helps me keep the reason for rounding up straight.)
Then yeah, ZesterX, the issue for you is that your access to a class's spells is based on just your levels in that class. So even as a level 5 character, you still only have access to the spells a single-class Wizard 4 can prepare (2nd-level), and only the spells a single-class Artificer 1 can prepare (1st-level).

Yes, it was fixed very soon after my comment in April 2020.
@Zesterx, the rules for multiclass spellcasting can be found here:
Spells Known and Prepared. You determine what spells you know and can prepare for each class individually, as if you were a single-classed member of that class.

Hi there shaffers3,
seems something slipped in the Artificer systems with the new character sheet upgrades! I've raised a ticket with the dev team to get this addressed.
