I'm playing Lost Mine of Phandelver and my character received Talon (the +1 Longsword). I wanted to add it to my character sheet but couldn't find it anywhere on the site. So I added it as homebrew content. And, just for the heck of it, submitted it for review. It was struck down as copyrighted material.
I understand, LMoP is copyrighted and you have to pay for it to use stuff from it so Talon shouldn't be simply available as public homebrew content. But if it's in LMoP, why isn't it available for me to use after I bought the Legendary Bundle? I couldn't find its item card. Can you just add the item to the LMoP adventure content?
(And please spare me the 'just use the nameless +1 longsword'. I don't want that. It's not just a +1 longsword. Talon is special. It's named. And I want it be named on my character sheet.)
You are not obliged to make such an item public. You can use that homebrew privately.
The fact that Talon does not appear in the listing (as many other items throughout the adventure modules) is because is essentially a +1 longsword. There is no need to overflow the listing with duplicates.
The fact is it is just a +1 longsword. From the source "The chest also holds a +1 longswordin a silver-chased scabbard." and it is not listed in the Magic Items section of the source. You can easily rename an item in your character sheet. Expand the item, expand Customize, and type in the name and minimize everything you expanded.
Edit - You will need to customize the name from the attacks section of the character sheet.
I find it interesting that Talon is not included but Hew and Lightbringer are. After all by the logic provided above they are just a +1 axe and +1 mace. None of these items requres attunement.

You can just change the name in your attacks section? But what about the full description?

There is a notes section as well as the name section. Editing those, this is what mine looks like.
Ok. Cool. Thanks.

When you do this with a weapon it also changes the name in your inventory as well.

Both of those items have additional powers ontop of being +1 weapons.
