As an example of what I see as a common problem with the "Search Everything" feature, if you enter: "grapple", "Grapple", "Grappling", "melee attack grappling", "grappling combat" or any number of other options, the closest you will come to grappling melee combat option is "Grapple feat" as a return on the search. This happens on many searches. Typically, forums come up first. In the case of grapple, grapple rules for monsters come first. When I am playing, using Dndbeyond should be faster than opening the actual book. Incidentally, typing "Shoving" actually brings up shoving as a first result. I know it is an algorithm issue or such, but I wish I had made a list of important things I have tried to look up that the desired subject never returns... You have to be pretty savvy to know that just entering: "melee combat" is better than entering "grappling." I love everything else about the site, so the search feature is somewhat of a minor issue but like I said, in the middle of a game, searching for a specific rule seems harder than it should be. Unless I am doing something wrong. Thanks for any advice!
I think being able to narrow the search by category would be helpful. If I want to find rules for grappling, it'd be easier to be able to narrow it to "compendiums" or "rules" (I would favor the former, as that's how content is grouped by the site over all).
This problem continues. I can not believe I am the only one that is bothered by this? Everything I search for typically results in a forum discussion and that is a terrible use of this resource.
Improvements to the search engine on the D&D Beyond site are on the feature roadmap, as the staff team recognise that there are several improvements to search that would be beneficial. :)
Seeing a notification that someone replied to this allowed me the opportunity to see that "grapple" now returns the proper result. Thank you DnD Beyond staff, you rock! I will see what others have been fixed, thank you!
How are the improbements to search going? Right now I am trying "falling into water" which is exact text in Tasha but I cannot get that to come up in results.
Is there perhaps a way to limit search to one book? I often know what book it believed to be in...

"We got this, no problem! I'll take the twenty on the left - you guys handle the one on the right!"🔊
Is there a place to suggest specific search results that should be there? e.g. add 'flanking'

What does IMHO and DxJxC stand for?
IMHO = In My Honest/Humble Opinion. DxJxC is the name of a forum member, but I see no mention of them in this thread; why do you ask?
Helpful rewriter of Japanese->English translation and delver into software codebases (she/e/they)
