Why can we not add a modifier to a magic item and increase a character’s maximum hp yet? It’s there as an option but it doesn’t work. Can a dev explain it? This issue has been known for over 4 years now. Any comments would be welcomed.
The presence of a modifier does not mean it will work for all possible homebrew options. In this case, items cannot apply the bonus - hit points or bonus - hit points per level modifier. Until an official item is published that does this, these modifiers will not be supported on items.
You can however use these modifiers on feats for example, that's how the Tough feat works
