I was making a druid for a game I am going to play in tomorrow night. I wanted to pick the Hermit background for the herbalism kit proficiency but its not showing up in my drop down list. I have the PHB purchased but not the DMG...that's not an item I need the DMG for to show up/add to my character...is it? I can find the item in my compendium when I look it up. I can provide a screenshot if necessary.

The druid class automatically gives you proficiency in Herbalist's Kit, so that is why it doesn't appear on the drop-menu of the background.

D&D Beyond FoundersAdditionally, on your character sheet, you will see this proficiency in the FEATURES area of the character sheet, under Proficiencies.
