At 1st level, you have struck a bargain with an otherworldly being of your choice: the Fiend, which is detailed at the end of the class description, or one from another source. Your choice grants you features at 1st level and again at 6th, 10th, and 14th level.
Bolded the last part of that sentence. It looks like its saying Fiend, but it really is "You have chosen a patron: the fiend, or someone else."
Under class features - otherworldly patron for Hexblade Warlocks, the details given are instead for the Fiend.
This is true at least for the Android app, not tested elsewhere.
Hi there NorthernGoblin,
I just had a look via both my browser on my PC and via the official D&D Beyond app and everything seems to be correct.
Could you provide a screenshot please, so we can see exactly where you are referring to?
many thanks

Could you post a screenshot? Neither the desktop website, nor the mobile website, nor the DnDBeyond app show Hexblade with The Fiend details for me.
Tried to fit it in so you see both the Hexblade specialisation above and the patron description.
I think it is just weird wording.

Ah, that's just the standard text explaining what the class feature is, not which one you selected.
This will all be MUCH clearer in the new character sheet. :)

Aha, awesome. Thank you for clarifying, and quickly too!
