Was looking in the forums and couldn't find anyone mentioning this anywhere else. When you start a new character, no matter the class and set the HP to Manual the level 1 rolled value is always '12' even if the class only has a d6 for their hit dice.
Hm - looking at the character in the character builder, it looks like the rolled HP is set to 12 (which when adding your +2 for CON makes the 14). You can check the details of your HP by clicking on "Manage HP" on the page where you level your class. You can set it back to taking the average by going to the first page of the builder and changing the Hit Point Type to Fixed.
The problem is that using Manual for HP sets the starting rolled HP to 12 no matter the class. I get it too on all my new characters. It's easy to fix - but it shouldn't be doing that to begin with.
Yes, but we are doing a rolled HP campaign, I shouldn't have to adjust my starting HP to the hit dice of the class, it used to automatically do it. Not sure what changed.
If you keep HP type at Fixed - choose your Race and Class - then change HP type to Manual - the rolled HP will be correct. But if you set it to Manual before choosing your Race and Class then it will set it to 12 regardless of the class chosen.

Thanks but seems such a roundabout way to fix something that used to be correct and no issue
I don’t know, but it’s easy enough to resolve on a case by case basis. After you have picked a class, change the HP type to manual, wait a bit, and then change it back to fixed. That should do it.
It's silly that this is still not fixed. And before someone says, "it's easy to fix" and explains the very obvious health adjustments, let me remind you that we are not the ones that should be finding workarounds. But the company we pay our subs to
How about it D&D Beyond? My players complain to me about this every time anyone starts new characters. And I have to excuse you for not fixing it and explain it all over again, and manually fix it.
I just had this same problem, I just noticed that my level 1 druid was 14 hp (12hp+ 2CON)... I was confused, I could have sworn I set my HP to 8 when I started? I'm glad someone found a workaround, although I think it's ridiculous that this problem still exists. A brand new player likely isn't going to understand why the number their character sheet says is different from what the PHB tells them, and only further their confusion in a game that is already a little overwhelming at first.
I am currently encountering a problem with rolled HP when leveling up. I got to level up two characters this week and both times when I entered the new rolled HP it would look ok at first but then reset to the old number, when I refreshed the page or went back to the sheet. It would finally save the new value after several attempts, but it's super frustrating.

That's likely just a caching issue. When you make a change - your browser cache and the server cache can end up different. Just give it 20 minutes or so and they will usually resync with the updated values.
@emmber : Even if you have already done that, looks like just going in and "changing" the race, and then selecting "keep race" has the same effect. THANK YOU! This was driving me crazy, and you just solved my issue.

That may be, but it's still a problem, especially when leveling up mid-session. I can't exactly hold up the game for 20 minutes.

Hey there - can you please post your character sheet? That'll allow either myself or another moderator to be able to help you out.
Here you are, as you can see a level 1 wizard with 14 constitution should not have 14 HP, but 8.

D&D beyond really needs to fix this.

this is still a bug. rolled hp is set to 12 whenever i open the sheet.
I can go to edit the character, change the rolled HP, then view the sheet again and it would reset itself back to 12.

you're right, seems like it works fine today.

I just noticed this same bug today. Glad I'm not the only one seeing it!
