I'm building a Wood Half-Elf Monk with the Fleet of Foot Wood Elf Descent trait, but it seems to be overriding the Monk's speed rather than combining like it's supposed to. So as a 5th-level Monk (should have +10 feet speed from 2nd-level) instead of having a speed of 45 feet, the character is still stuck at 35 feet as if it had no speed bonus from Monk at all.
I suspect this means the Fleet of Foot option is using the wrong speed modifier behind the scenes, so it should be a trivial fix (change the bonus to a +5 feet speed modifer?). I don't really want to have to create a homebrew copy just to fix this myself, so I'll just override it on the character sheet for now (I removed the override to demonstrate the problem).
Former D&D Beyond Customer of six years: With the axing of piecemeal purchasing, lack of meaningful development, and toxic moderation the site isn't worth paying for anymore. I remain a free user only until my groups are done migrating from DDB, and if necessary D&D, after which I'm done. There are better systems owned by better companies out there.
I have unsubscribed from all topics and will not reply to messages. My homebrew is now 100% unsupported.
I just looked, and the sheet is showing a walking speed of 45ft. Also, the unarmoured movement bonus is at level 2 , not 5.
Sorry for the confusion!
I know it's a 2nd-level feature, I just meant that the character is 5th-level Monk so +10 feet should be the correct bonus at that level. Also the speed is showing 45 feet because I customised it and forgot to remove the override; it should be showing the (in)correct value now.
I was creating the character to show someone a sample build for something they're thinking of playing, I really should have copied it for the bug report but I've got way too many characters as it is! You should see it has the incorrect speed now (35 feet).

Ah feck, I found the problem; the character was overencumbered using variant encumbrance, which imposes a 10 foot speed penalty, cancelling out the Monk bonus. Mystery solved!
