Thanks for all the amazing tools. Managing characters on your platform is super convenient, and I usually play straight from my phone or tablet. But now and then, I need to print out a character sheet. Whether it’s for a session without Wi-Fi, a backup copy, or just something quick and easy to hand to the DM, the current PDF export doesn’t always hold up. This is especially true when trying to get kids or new players excited about the game.
Here are a few ideas that could really help:
Fix the issue where text gets cut off or disappears when it doesn't fit the space.
In other areas, the text shrinks down so much that it becomes almost unreadable.
A version with color or design options like accent colors or background patterns could really improve things. If each section had its own visual identity, like consistent colors or subtle patterns, you might not need to shrink the text at all. The layout could rely more on visual cues to show which category each piece of information belongs to. That would make the sheet easier to scan and understand at a glance, especially for newer players.
The portrait space is appreciated, but it would be great if the character image you upload on D&D Beyond could show up in the PDF by default. It would also be useful to have the option to change or remove the image, or keep the empty frame as it is now.
A simple diagram of a character "mannequin" to show where equipped items go, like armor, weapons, and magic gear, would be a nice visual aid for players who like a clear layout.
One of the biggest improvements would be making the layout more specific to each class. A few examples:
Spellcasters could benefit from a quick guide that explains terms like Verbal, Somatic, and Material components. A short breakdown of how turns work in combat, such as movement, action, bonus action, and reaction, would also help new players.
Clerics could have a section to list their deity and domain.
Barbarians might need a space for tracking rage uses and damage bonuses.
Bards could use a callout for Bardic Inspiration
Casters in general might like a spot to jot down their most-used spells (or the ability to designate spells on their list as "most common" and indicated with some kind of call-out graphic)
These types of changes would not only make printed character sheets more readable and useful, but they would also help new players understand their characters and enjoy the game more.
This isn’t a complaint. Just a set of suggestions from someone who really enjoys the platform and sees a lot of potential in improving this one part of it.
My biggest issue with the PDF character sheet is that the "PAGE REF" column on the spell list is too narrow for the content. While I appreciate the clarity of citations like "PHB-2024 267", I'd much rather see "267" than the truncation "PHB-2024".
Page references are very helpful for playing offline, so please fix this! Thanks.

Greetings!
I wish the export tool would assign a different reference ID for a character with additional levels.
Trying to save different versions of my characters is impossible if your system does not change the reference...

You can copy the character before leveling and the new one will have a different ID.
You can also just change the name of the PDF file when saving it.
