Not sure this helps but I had this same issue (and noticed some other seemingly unrelated issues with some of my other game consoles, certain other apps on my laptops, etc) and it appears that the TP-Link network switches I bought off Amazon were not worth their weight in lead. - I had one "fail" this way a while back although it didn't seem to affect D&D Beyond at that time but now another switch has "failed" this way but a bit worse. I've replaced that and things are working much better but I still have another 4 throughout my home. I am going with UniFi hardware now.
Again, not sure this would be the case for you but if you can, I would slowly remove any unnecessary devices from your home network and see it helps. - Good luck!

The game log is not updating with player roles without refreshing the entire page, doesn't matter if its the app or the website.
