I had thought paying for the subscription would unlock the feats and subclasses. They want 6 bucks a month on top of paying 30 for the PHB AGAIN?!
No, the subscription is not necessary to use the non-free content on DDB.
The Hero Tier subscription removes ads, allows you to create an unlimited number of characters, and add publicly-shared homebrew content to your collection to use within the toolset.
The Master Tier does what the Hero tier does and on top of that allows the sharing of purchased content with the players/DM of a campaign.
I am currently subscribed with the master tier subscription and have purchases almost all the books necessary for rules. My problem is when my character hit level 4 some were allowed to choose feats and it wouldn't let me pick besides the three feats in the drop down menu where they earned it by leveling up. I don't mind doing it manually on their character sheet when you can view it in the end but was wondering if there was a glitch or fix to this I don't know about.

... no... i did for my other campaign but not this one.... you're a genius... now i love the website even more than i already did haha thank you so much!!!!!!

To gain access to digital source books, such as the Player's Handbook, you will need to make a one-time purchase.

Bumping this because I have had the same issue.
I also can't seem to select Bigby's Hand as a spell for my Bard for my magical secrets talent.

I forgot to mention, the variant human also has issues with picking the background!
