I'm putting one of my characters into D&D Beyond, a Warlock with the Clan Crafter background. Clan Crafter grants me proficiency with "one type of artisan's tools", and the Clan Crafter's starting equipment includes "a set of artisan's tools with which you are proficient". I selected jeweler's tools for the proficiency, but when I get to the starting equipment section of the character builder, jeweler's tools is not available for me to select. In the Equipment chapter of the PHB, there are 17 types of Artisan's Tools listed. For the Clan Crafter background in the Character Builder, I was able to choose from all 17 options for my proficiency. In the Starting Equipment selection for Clan Crafter, I can only choose from Alchemist's Supplies, Brewer's Supplies, Mason's Tools, Painter's Supplies, Potter's Tools, Smith's Tools, Tinker's Tools, Weaver's Tools and Woodcarver's Tools, leaving 8 Artisan's Tool choices unavailable. The text of the Clan Crafter background does not define a subset of tools that are eligible choices, so why the discrepancy?
