Creating an Aasimar (of any subrace, including the DMG variant) with a class of Light Cleric or Celestial Warlock causes the "light" cantrip to show up twice on the character's sheet after character creation. As far as I recall, it isn't possible to know the same cantrip twice. Shouldn't the class-granted version simply override the race-granted version? Here is a sample character I made that illustrates the problem.
Yup, it's a little odd, they are magically from different sources though.
Also note that, for Aasimar, "Charisma is your spellcasting ability for it."
From Light Domain Cleric, it does say, "When you choose this domain at 1st level, you gain the light cantrip if you don’t already know it," so you are correct, you shouldn't gain it from that subclass.
The Warlock subclass, "The Celestial" states, "At 1st level, you learn the light and sacred flame cantrips. They count as warlock cantrips for you, but they don’t count against your number of cantrips known," so not sure how that should be handled.
Is it not possible to fix the issue with the Celestial Patron, since there's no caveat written into the rules about how to handle it (unlike Light Domain)?
I mistakenly thought earlier that the issue was fixed with the Light Cleric, but it still isn't. In addition to still being true of the Celestial Warlock.
It seems to affect all versions of the Aasimar, too. (the three subraces + the DMG variant)
In addition, a character being a an Aasimar Celestial Warlock/Light Cleric multiclass causes a total of three instances of the "Light" cantrip appearing on the character, even despite the Light Cleric's "if you don’t already know it" caveat.
