This isn't about how they appear in the character editor (Though that is an issue worth reminding of), this is about how easy it is to break a relationship between a parent race and it's subraces.
I have made a race, and then subsequent 3-4 subraces. Upon publishing it, and trying to add more subraces, I needed to make a new version of the race, but the old subraces remained tied to the first version of the parent race. I now have 2 different versions of the same parent race, each with different subraces that are intended to be one parent and a conglomerate. It would be fine if I could edit which version of the parent race each subrace targets, but alas I cannot.
I would like to suggest adding a code to each parent race, and adding a dropdown to the subraces and variants editor to select what it's parent race is, with a 'custom' or 'homebrew' option that lets you put in said code. Also, allowing us to make custom race groups for our parent races to have the subraces under one banner in the character editor would be nice too. Many thanks for reading.
I believe you can remove the earlier version from your collection. Then if you go to the new version, you should have the old version on that page. Does that make sense?
I am aware of this, but some subraces still use the older versions of the parent race, I can't make them use the newer versions of the parent race. Thats the issue. I can use the older versions, yes, but I want the newest one being tied to all the subraces. I don't need the older versions of the parent race.
