It is possible, both through character generation and through debuffs, to have ability scores below 3. In the case of character generation, it requires rolling a 3 or 4 and assigning it to Strength on a kobold or Intelligence on an orc, resulting in an ability score of 1 or 2. It is also possible, through special effects such as that of the intellect devourer, to have an ability score as low as 0. However, D&D Beyond appears to set a lower bound of 3 on ability scores, which is usually but not invariably correct. (The upper bound of 30 is of course correct.) I imagine it would be quite simple to set the lower bound on ability scores to 0 to handle these edge cases. Would the developer team be willing to do this?
Thank you.
Edit: I can see an argument for not allowing an ability score of 0, as that generally means the character is comatose or dead. I'd be happy with the lower bound set to 0 or 1.

This is a known missing feature, but it probably wont be changed until character sheets get another pass.
