Specifically, inputting domain spells into homebrew domains (and I mean the actual adding of the individual spells to the class feature so they show up in a cleric's prepared spells, not just formatting the table that lists the spells.)
Do I have to own the sourcebooks the spells are found in to add them to the domain, or is it enough to be in a campaign where someone who owns the sourcebooks has shared them with me?
I ask because I'm trying to add a spell from Xanathar's to a domain and the search to add it to the domain isn't bringing up the spell, even though I have access to the spell if I just look it up to read the description.
I'm more than happy to buy XGtE if I need to in order to add spells from it to my homebrew domains. I just want to double check that it isn't some other glitch preventing me from being able to add it before I spend the money.
If you want to use a homebrew subclass for personal use, you can add any spells you own, shared content is only available in the character builder when making a character in the sharing campaign, and compendium.
When making a character you want to share, you can only use SRD spells, nothing that requires a purchase such as named spells (Tenser's Floating Disk) or from a book like XGTE
