It appears that you are unable to de-level a character once you give it a certain amount of XP. This should be changed in case of accidental leveling, effects that remove xp, etc.

Thank goodness someone mentioned this. I just made a character and accidentally put him at level 5, and I have no way to put him back at level 1.
