I'm new to this site, so I might just be missing something. I made a homebrew race and I was going to make a character with it for my friend, but when I went to choose the race for the character only the subrace I made for it showed up. I thought it was really weird, so I tried again to make sure I didn't do something wrong. Even after I unadded and readded my race to my collection, and unadded my subclass from my collection(I wasn't going to use it for this character), it didn't show up as a choice for the race. I'm not sure if I did something wrong or if the website is just being glitchy.
The subrace is what you are supposed to select. The way parent race and subrace works is that each subrace has all the common traits of the parent race plus the unique traits of the subrace.
Like how all elves have darkvision, trance, and fey ancestry, but only the high elf gets a wizard cantrip.
If your subrace was supposed to have different traits than the parent race, you should have made it a variant.

Thanks! That helps a lot!
