The DM has sent join links and four people have been able to do so off what he is sending/doing. But I just keep getting sent to the My Campaigns screen with the only option being to create a new campaign. I use Fantasy Grounds usually and only started with D&D beyond (and even bought the Ebberron expansion for his campaign) because the DM wanted to use this site. So I am somewhat annoyed.
The only reason I can think of why it would behave that way is if it's not possible for you to join the campaign with a character. A possible reasons for that the campaign is full - it already has the maximum number of players (12).
You need to either:
(a) Have an empty character slot (less than 6 characters if you don't have a subscription) so that you can accept the option to create a new character within the campaign, or (b) Have an existing character (that isn't in a campaign already) that you can use to join with.
If Stormknight's suggestion doesn't help, try having the DM create a new join link and send you that.
If that still doesn't work, ask the DM to send you the URL of the campaign (not the join link) and post it here as well as the URL of the character you want to join with.

Any ideas on why his link won't function for me.

I hope this helps!
