I've bought almost all of the physical books for 5e but my friends are unable to join me in person. I decided to try playing online but I need to use the books digitally, and I can't afford to purchase them all over again online. Is it possible to avoid this? I've already bought them all.
Long answer, you wouldn't be purchasing the books again. You'd be purchasing the digital rights to use the content here.
Aside from sales on Amazon you won't find better prices than you do here, physical or digital. Plus you can piecemeal out any options you want instead of buying an entire sourcebook or adventure. It's up to you if this is worth it, but there's no way to redeem previous purchases.

Lightning Strike - A rebranded Fire Bolt for Wizards & Sorcerers.
Spirit Bomb - A holy fireball for Clerics, Paladins, & Divine Soul Sorcerers!
Sword Dancer - A Cleric subclass specifically for the Drow goddess Eilistraee.
D&D Beyond is a licensed digital tool for the game, however it is not owned by or a part of Wizards of the Coast. Physical purchases made from your preferred local (or online) retailer do not include the content and tools for D&D Beyond.
There are lots of options available, however!
Content Sharing! If any member of your group has a Master Tier subscription they can enable content sharing. Every member of the campaign will be able to access the content purchased by any member of the campaign, and characters in the campaign will have access to purchased character content. This allows your group to spread out purchases: You don't need only one person to purchase everything.
Purchasing content piece-meal: You can purchase only the content you need! You can buy an individual subclass, monster, spell, etc. as you need it, unlocking it on the listings and tools like the character and encounter builders. This will also reduce the cost of the full book by the amount spent!
Using our Homebrew Tools: You can use the built-in homebrew tools to create the content from your physical purchases yourself. Content you create privately will be shared automatically in your campaigns.
I hope that helps shed some light! Don't hesitate to reach out if you have any other D&D Beyond questions!
