Just FYI, the Goblin Render is not in the Storm King's Thunder book. It is an item specifically created for the SKT Intro Adventure (DDIA05 Storm King's Thunder: A Great Upheaval (5e)) given to FLGS (Friendly Local Game Stores) for Adventure League Play. While it is exactly a copy of the first chapter of SKT, it has special items (magic) that were added to the adventure.
I have added it as Homebrew and can't add it to my character's inventory... Can't find it when searching for equipment.... Thoughts?

Did you toggle the enable homebrew option for that character? Those items won't show for your character until you do.
Weird - I added it to my collection, and it's not appearing either. Hmm...
Well at least I know I'm not crazy.... I just created Mithral Plate, +2 and can't add it to any characters either. It's not yet public, though, so you won't see it.

Yeah, there appears to be a broader issue here with public homebrew. I can add all my private items, no problem at all (so not sure what the issue is with your Plate +2 - is that character proficient?). I created my own Goblin Render, for example, and I can add it.
Yes, character is proficient, and I created both these items myself. Neither shows up.

I received a Magic item in Storm Kings Thunder, called Goblin Render, and I cannot find it.
Uncommon item
+1 Longsword that glows when a goblin is within 20ft.
If you have purchased the Storm Kings adventure you will be able to see it otherwise it won't be in the normal list of items.
I similarly had an item from Lost mines of Phandelver but you can actually purchase it on its own if you want to add it to your character.
But it is not a something I can buy under the Storm Kings Thunder Book. I don't want to buy the whole book for one item, but just get the item.

D&D Beyond FoundersTake a look at the page for Storm King's Thunder - it allows you to purchase individual magic items for exactly this situation! :)
edit: sorry - I've had a look - the item you received isn't an item from the Storm King's Thunder module.
My best guess is that it's an item that your DM created and therefore is best addressed using homebrew.
