Historically, channel divinity (specifically for the Death Domain Cleric) would read as "...deal an extra (insert however much damage it was) points of necrotic damage"

It has recently changed to show the formula however, in a red block, that reads as "deal an extra (classlevel*2@rounddown)+5 points of necrotic damage"

That's interesting though, as I haven't edited the Channel Divinity formula, and it used to display the actual damage amount despite still being this home brew option (it's just the death domain subclass with a spell swap).
