I have a bard character that has the Canaith Mandolin and while it adds the spells to the character sheet when you equip and attune it. The system then doesn't track the spells usage properly.
According to the item description, each spell can be cast once per day. However, on the D&D Beyond character sheet, the spells can be cast repeatedly in any combination (apart from Cure Wounds) until all seven charges of the item have been used.
Casting Cure Wounds is even worse, since the instrument gives you the ability to cast it once at third level. The spell does appear correctly under third level but casting it uses up three charges in the instrument not one!
I have also looked at a number of the other Bard's Instruments and all seem to suffer from the same bug with regard to spell casting/charges.
There is one final bug I've found - to be able to use the instrument to cast spells you need to attune to it. However, if you unequip the item without first unattuning from it the spells remain in the list of spells know. (Once the instrument's charges have been used, the spells can't be cast but they still appear in the list).
If there is anyone else effected by this bug, I have come up with a temporary work around using homebrew items:
Make a copy of the desired instrument but remove all but one of the spells from it. Change it's number of charges to one.
For each granted spell, you need to make an item, that has one charge and just grants that spell.
The only way I could get a 3rd level Cure Wounds spell to work was to make a custom third level version of the spell and add that to an item.
It's not an elegant solution and does mean that a characters inventory is cluttered up with a whole set of dummy items, not to mention that resetting the charges "at dawn" means going into up to seven different items. However, it does at least mean that in the heat of combat you don't have to manually remember which of the granted spells you've already used.
