When you are adding armor to your character while in your character sheet with the add item button, you can't see the full potential of the AC.
Studded leather gives you an AC of 12 + your DEX, but the item's description only says "Armor Class: 12".
Some armor doesn't let your add your DEX and some does, although this might seem like something minimal, it's hard to tell how much your AC will be if you don't have the armor rules memorized.
To make it easier on people the armor that has the DEX mod added to it should be appropriately changed to how it is the in Player's Handbook.
Why would it need to show that once you have it equipped? That seems redundant to me. Like you said, it shows it in the PHB and in the full description of the item. If you are looking at the character sheet and are confused about why your AC is higher then 12 even though the armor says its 12 you can click on your total AC and it will tell you what goes into making it that way.
If you add extra descriptors like that into the small description you have to account for things like medium armor master which makes it a max of +3 from your dex for medium armor, which again seems redundant.

Example:
- "Armor Class: 11 + Dex modifier"
- "Armor Class: 12 + Dex modifier (max 2)"
