I Don't believe you can because you have to brandish the weapon (weild) thus you cannot use thunder gauntlets in combo anyways I believe the gauntlets can allow you to cast spell then a blade appears in your hand not making your thunder gauntlets the blade
Thunder Gauntlets are a weapon, it says so right in the class feature that introduces them; the issue isn't whether they are a valid weapon for the cantrips, but whether they have a value of at least 1 silver piece since the value is also a requirement.
Former D&D Beyond Customer of six years: With the axing of piecemeal purchasing, lack of meaningful development, and toxic moderation the site isn't worth paying for anymore. I remain a free user only until my groups are done migrating from DDB, and if necessary D&D, after which I'm done. There are better systems owned by better companies out there.
I have unsubscribed from all topics and will not reply to messages. My homebrew is now 100% unsupported.
Contrary to their names, neither Green Flame Blade nor Booming Blade require an actual blade; they work just as well with a club, warhammer etc.

The description of the thunder gauntlets classified them as a simple weapon when there's nothing in your hand.
