Hi all, I'm currently playing with a slightly un-optimized Artificer7/Barb1 Multi-class. It looks like we should be leveling up soon and I'm really having a hard time picking a feat and would love any input. Here's a bit of info: Current stats: STR:13 DEX:15 CON:17 INT:18 WIS:11 CHA:9
*Our DM stated that we will probably only be leveling to level 15 for this campaign so that leaves only 2 ASI/Feat slots in progression.
My Character has the role of a Skill Monkey Support with our Bard OoC and in combat sort of a mid-line combatant/ back up Tank when things go bad. Our DM is super kind in giving me time to create items in down-time with a number of skill checks to bring down the time so I'm not just stuck in a forge while the party does other stuff. The feats that I'm debating have various pulls for various reasons:
1. War Caster: obvious for any sort of Gish-like character 2. Linguist: Get a +1 to INT and fill in some possible utility for our group (who does not have many languages known) 3. Skilled/Skill Expert: Double down on the skill monkey aspect of character 4. Magic Initiate (Wizard): Fix the woefully limited cantrip issue and help with some possible utility 5. Artificer Initiate: Split the difference between Skilled and MI and get another tool proficiency with an extra prepared spell and cantrip
Again any suggestions are appreciated, thanks in advance!
ASI, +1 to Dex and Con. I think you can't go wrong with so solid ability scores. The only feat you mentioned I would suggest is War Caster. What's your Archetype and known Infusions?
I'm playing a Battle Smith currently and have an infusion list of Returning Weapon, Bag of Holding, Repeating Shot (for Bard), Mind Sharpener(for Wizard), Alchemy Jug, Pipes of Haunting. I have a Hand Axe with Returning infusion for my midline stuff and a Glaive for when I use raging for the Barbarian. Oh, and my race is a Beasthide Shifter if that matters.
Secondary Question: Would it be more worth that ability bump in Dex and Con or instead just getting the 20 INT seeing as I only have 2 more opportunities to do so?
Im gonna back the INT to 20 argument. BUT if you had to go for feat, Skille/Expert would be great for how I play out of that list. I'd probably consider Resistant: Dex, if I had to take a feat. But I wouldn't. I'd max my INT, then everything else without going for a lvl16 ASI

Max INT. Lots of nice stuff off of that bonus. Worth it for just the extra flash of genius IMO.
For a completely biased opinion, this is my vote. Any way to get Find Familiar is a win in my book.
Otherwise, I would agree to min-max stats for your playstyle.
