One tradition our group has while taking a rest from dungeoneering is for my artificer to apply a spellwrought tattoo of "Cure Wounds" to each of the party members. However one of the players, a monk, is unable to accept a tattoo on his skin. So, we devised an alternative!
Instead of a tattoo needle, my artificer conjured (using Replicate Magic Item - Spellwrought tattoo) an embroidery needle instead. With it, he stitches a symbol using fine copper thread onto a patch. When complete, the copper thread melts and fuses into the patch. It can then be sewed onto any piece of clothing and used just like a spellwrought tattoo. Once used, the magic dissipates and the copper thread tarnishes to green copper oxide.
This method is prevented from becoming "OP" by the fact that the size requirement still remains, so a level 1 spell patch would still be the size of your hand. It requires a spellwrought tattoo needle. It requires my artificer to find, buy, or make a large amount of fine copper wire. And of course, if the spell being cast consumes a material component, that material is needed during the weaving of the patch.
EDIT: I realized I mistitled my own post. The new magical item is called "Spellwoven Patch"
