If you give your defender a repulsion shield, can it use its reaction to use the shield? Similarly what about the radiant weapon? In looking at sage it appears sentient constructs can use there reaction as they see fit.
It wouldn't be proficient with either, but there would be no downside to giving a biped Stee Defender a Radiant Weapon. It can attack with its rend and use the blinding reaction, the only thing to consider would be that it shuts down Defensive Pounce for a round.
Best part of Radiant Weapon is it specifies "after being hit by an attack" with no other qualifiers.
Melee weapon attack? Ok. Ranged weapon attack? Ok. Spell attack of any kind? Ok. Just feeling really attacked right now? Ask your DM.
No stated range limitation either. Hit by an eldritch blast from 600 ft away by a Warlock with Spell Sniper and Eldritch Spear? Con save or they're blinded.
Finally it can be applied to any simple or martial weapon. Melee or ranged. Put it on a sling and make it a light up collar for your robot dog.
Of course the creature hit by that attack has to survive it in order to be able to use its reaction so not much good on a Familiar but a good choice on a Steel Defender. Homunculus Servant is middle ground. Less AC than the Defender so it can trigger more often, less HP than the Defender so it might be one hit KO'd more often.

thanks in advance!
