just a quick question regarding the spell slots of my newly generated Warforged Artificer/Wizard:
According to my CharSheet ddb.ac/characters/23258926/86agUH I have 2nd Level spell slots even though I’m only 3rd Level total, with one level of Arti and two levels of War Mage. Are there any multiclass shenanigans going on I haven’t quite grasped, or is this a bug?
That sounds right. When you have levels in 2+ classes with Spellcasting, you consult the Multiclass Spellcaster table to find out how many spell slots you have.
You sum all your levels in bard, cleric, druid, sorcerer and wizard, half your levels (rounded down) in paladin and ranger, half your levels (rounded up) in artificer and a third of your levels (rounded down) in fighter and rogue if you have taken the Eldritch Knight / Arcane Trickster subclasses respectively. In your case, that gives 2 + 1 = 3, making your character a 3rd level multiclass caster, so from the table you get 4 1st level slots and 2 2nd level.
Of course, until you actually learn 2nd level spells the slots are only useful for upcasting your 1st level spells with an 'At Higher Levels...' option! If you don't have any of those, then functionally they're just 2 more 1st level slots.

Great, that explains it!
Perfect, thanks a lot.
