Subclass: Wild Magic (1 of 8 effects when you Rage)
Race: Tiefling (+2 CHA)
Subrace: Abyssal (+1 CON; and 1 cantrip + 2 spells per long rest randomly rolled from list; and +1/2 character level extra HP)
STR 18 | DEX 18 | CON 18 (17+1)
INT 12 | WIS 14 | CHA 17 (15+2)
Yes, I rolled a bunch of times to get these stats. But we have 3 PCs, and I'm the only melee, so I had a chat with the gods. ;)
Pre-Question: Wild Talent feat: can the Psi-Guided Strike die replace ANY damage die? For example, let's say I am level 17 and I have Tavern Brawler and hit with an Unarmed Strike of d4, can I replace it with the d12 Psi die (I assume yes)? Or, if I am level 17, and I hit with a Maul (2d6), can I replace one of the d6 with the d12 (I assume no)? And the feat says "attack", which sounds like melee, ranged, spells, perhaps even special abilities like my Wild Magic abilities?
I have some ideas but am curious of others' thoughts that may then spur me to something new. Here are some ASI/Feat combos I have considered. No particular order to how I have listed the combos; if you have suggestions, feel free. I got these from the dnd ******* website. I will need to chat with my DM.
GWM, Fell Handed, Crusher (+1 CON), Infernal Constitution (+1 CON), +2 STR [seems like a pretty standard Barbarian]
Tavern Brawler (+1 STR), Brawny (+1 STR), Fighting Initiate (Unarmed Fighting), Barbed Hide (+1 CHA), +2 CON [not necessarily heavy damage but some fun extra options; gonna ask the DM about Throwing after a Grapple with my 1440 lbs. lift capacity (at lvl 20)]
+2 CON, +2 STR, Metamagic Adept (not sure which), Eldtritch Adept (Mage Armor, Devil's Sight, or ???) or Magic Initiate or Spell Sniper (not sure which spells) or War Caster (for my Concentration spells) [certainly spells are not a Barbarian's bread and butter, but it is thematic with my Wild Magic subclass and Abyssal subrace; gives me utility (albeit limited) when not raging]
Most of the feats you're listing are ones I've never heard of, but I can say with confidence a barbarian can't cast spells or maintain spell concentration while raging, sharply limiting their ability to use spells effectively. You have to find long duration concentrationless spells to make it work, like Warding Bond.
