I want to do a goliath barbarian, but i need help with ability scores and alignment... Can anyone help me please.
They have a haunted one background. I figured strength and con or strength and dex should be the highest two abilities, but I'm not sure about the rest. I want to do lawful neutral, chaotic neutral, or lawful evil. I'm leaning towards LN or CN though.
I think of barbarians tending towards chaotic They get mad and don't much worry about laws while raging.
As for the rest of your attributes, I generally think 14 dex is a good plan. That with medium armor and you can get a pretty decent AC. From there, I think it's all about what skills you want to be good at and what saves you want to not totally suck at.
STR is highest priority. Con is slightly more important than Dex IMO. 16 or 14. Dex should be a 14 or 12. Rest is up to you, though INT isn’t important.
Alignment: Lawful neutral. It fits well with the goliath race.
------------------------------------ If you are planning on choosing the Path of the Berserker, ability scores (assuming point buy):
STR = 16 = 14 (point buy) + 2 (goliath)
DEX = 14
CON = 16 = 15 (point buy) + 1 (goliath)
INT = 8
WIS = 8
CHA = 12
Wear medium armor instead of using the barbarian's unarmored defense. At level 4 and 8, boost STR. ------------------------------------
------------------------------------ If you are not planning on choosing the Path of the Berserker, ability scores (assuming point buy):
STR = 17 = 15 (point buy) + 2 (goliath)
DEX = 14
CON = 16 = 15 (point buy) + 1 (goliath)
INT = 8
WIS = 10
CHA = 8
Wear medium armor instead of using the barbarian's unarmored defense. At level 4, boost STR and WIS. And at level 8, choose Resilient WIS. ------------------------------------

There's plenty of ways to RP a Barbarian, though. Is their Rage just reflective of their natural personality? Or is it something they've trained themselves to only let out in battle, whether they're tapping into something or unleashing something they normally keep contained, like Bruce Banner & the Hulk(only not quite as drastic). That's the beauty of D&D, even within the rules for character creation, there's lots of room to make them your own :)

I guess it also depends on how intelligent/wise you would like your character to be.
