I have done this for a new campaign and have gone Halfling with Wild Barb 4 Wild Sorc X.... The Base stats were STR8 DEX16 CON14 INT10 WIS10 CHAR16 this gives you a great base with the first ASI to CON 16 then focus on charisma! Its been super fun to use and you get a lot of versatility! I mean 17AC (22ac with shield spell) at level 2 is super strong and when you are out of slots you can rage ! this lets you play hard and fast with spell slots and falling back on your Barbs resilience early on and as you develop being a real heavy hitter !
Hes also a farmer and the RP of a halfling farmer just one day turning into a potted plant is the best
Building one right now. I'm using a Changeling with the backstory that the wild magic has twisted my mind and I have a split personality. A garish barb and an introverted sorc. I'm thinking about picking up lvl 2 fighter as well for action surge (Barb 5/Sorc 3/Fighter 2). Then I can twin chaos bolt (because of course I'm chaotic haha), roll on the wild magic surge table (which my DM is letting me play a variant where the check increases by one if it doesn't trigger each time I cast a spell, including cantrips, as if the wild magic is building in me), bonus action rage (roll on the wild soul table), then action surge and hit it very hard twice :)
Won't be able to do that all the time, but it'll be fun to either start or end a fight haha.
Thinking of picking up Shadow Touched just so I can get inflict wounds and cast based off CHA. Then I could twin inflict wounds instead of chaos bolt. (6d10 + possible magic surge + wild soul surge + 2d12+5 ) :P
The multi class seems so obvious, but the build doesn't seem to work. Has anybody tried to do this yet?
Dump Dex/INT/WIS, and max out the rest, but rage could preclude much of the fun sorcerer wild magic stuff.
Do the wild magics interact? The possibilities seems endless.
Once you roll in magic surge table for sorcerer or barb, then rage as a result of primal magic warping your body. Sounds great.
