A ability that uses your action to give advantage on fear & charm saves until the next turn? Sure, that might come up once or twice, but this needs a buff or 2.
Personally, l'd make it a bonus action/reaction, and or last 1D4 rounds. But thats just me. What are your thoughts?
riddle me this, does countercharm need improvement? you get it at the same time as a bunch of other juicy features that make 6th level worth taking, that the feature is something you would only want to use once or twice throughout your campaign is fine, it's not like a core mechanic of the class.
Also your suggested improvement would make it a bit too potent

I agree with you DnDNewper, Countercharm is a very niche ability that rarely (if ever) becomes useful. It takes your action and only lasts until the start of your next turn. That being said, ArtificeMeal is also right, you get this at the same time as a subclass ability. So does it need to be improved, I think so but my solution in a game I'm DMing was to give the Bard a powerful magical item that enhanced his power, including making Countercharm grant immunity instead of advantage.
Because of the time you get this ability and it's general purpose, I think it would be better to change it based on the campaign through magical items so if it is too powerful you can have the item "break" or whatever to adjust how it affects this ability.

Canto alla vita
alla sua bellezza
ad ogni sua ferita
ogni sua carezza!
I sing to life and to its tragic beauty
To pain and to strife, but all that dances through me
The rise and the fall, I've lived through it all!
