I was wondering, what is the most min-maxed build you could build around a bard, with only 3 levels maximum of multiclass? I honestly have no idea. I'm wondering what this forum thinks.
If you want a Gish build that doesn't focus as much on spellcasting in combat, this is what I'd go for: One level of Hexblade to be able to use Charisma for attacking. Two levels of Paladin for Defence Fighting Style (you get Dueling from Sword bard) and smites, 17 levels of Swords bard. If you start as Paladin you get a small boost to HP and can use heavy armour if that's your thing, otherwise go for Dex 14 and Medium armour. High level Armour of Agathys plus decent AC + Flourishes makes for a a vicious combination.
For race I'd suggest Warforged, Half-Elf, Yuan-Ti pureblood, Harengon or custom lineage. If Custom Lineage, take a half feat that boosts your Charisma to 18 (assuming point buy), I'd go for Fey Touched for a free Misty Step and Silvery Barbs once a day. Get the Tough feat before you max your Charisma to off-set a low Con, at least if your game stop before level 11. I know that this isn't min-maxing in the straightest sense but it feels more optimal.
