I've got a character who's class levels are Bard-4 and Barbarian-6. Their background is they were a lyre playing bard who lost their hand which led to some serious anger management issues. Because of this stats are bardic with high DEX and CHA with mid-range STR and CON.
I'm trying to make them a bit more balanced and playable, most likely starting to lean back towards bard as the campaign and my character develop and I eventually gain levels. Any ideas for items or spells in the mean time
It might help to know which subclass you've selected for each class, because (maybe moreso for Bards) that can affect how you play the character quite a bit.
Since you can't cast (or concentrate on) spells while Rage is active, you are probably going to have to choose between using Rage and using spells for each fight you get into. If you like running around smashing things and you want to use Rage as much as possible, consider choosing most of your Bard spells from those that in non-combat social situations, or those that can be cast pre-emptively before a fight and don't require concentration (e.g. Aid or Mirror Image).
You also want to keep in mind that Barbarians are at their best when they attack with Strength, so it may be wise to invest in boosting your Strength when you can.
