I have a IRL campaign coming up, and the role that I want to fill in the party is a spy/party face. Now, i’ve seen some threads online talking about this, so I think my best route is either:
Half-elf Whispers Bard 15/Assasin Rogue 3/Warlock 2 would get me good score bonuses, all of the Whispers bard’s spy features (especially Mantle of Whispers), Assasinate cheese (due to the fact that getting stabbed by the guy you were talking with a few seconds ago probably counts as surprise), warlock for Mask of Many Faces (at-will Disguise Self), and 8th-level spellcasting. The only reason i’m hesitant to go with this is because of the other build, which is:
Changeling Whispers Bard 17/Assasin Rogue 3 has all the benefits of the above build, however, the need for Mask of Many Faces is removed, because of the Changeling race. Additionally, there’s the fact that I get 9th-level spells, which wouldn’t be that much of a loss, but are still nice.
No matter which way I go, i’m picking up Actor and Keen Mind so that i’m basically guaranteed to not be found out, and i’ll max my Cha, but after that, what should I do with my feats/ASIS? What would level progression look like? Any spell reccomendations?
To me, as changelings get to change their voice and have advantage on deception, there's little nee dfor the actor feat, unless you REALLY want that +1 CHA, and it doesn't make sense to go +1 CHA / +1 CON or similar.
