so I made a bard who is a lizard folk and writes about what other races do since it’s established that they don’t really understand other beings all that well, I made him college of lore and he is a skittish quick tonged journalist that travels with his drunken brother whose a paladin. I’m thinking about multiclassing him a few levels into something but I don’t know what
thoughts?

Bardic Inspiration is just someone believing in you, and I believe in you
I don't see a need for this character to multiclass, personally. I do think you should go with archeologist as a background. I do have to share that I can't stop thinking of a lizardfolk with a transatlantic accent wearing a fedora that says press lol
If I may, Anthropologist fits even better with the concept.
From Wikipedia:
Anthropology is the scientific study of humans, human behavior and societies in the past and present. Social anthropology studies patterns of behavior and cultural anthropology studies cultural meaning, including norms and values. Linguistic anthropology studies how language influences social life.
I agree though that no multiclass is really needed but if you buff intelligence then a quick dip into Wizard could be fun, grab up some rituals, maybe get Find Familiar.

Also thank you for the archeologists suggestion, forgot about that background and was looking at sage but archeologist does feel better
