Hello, I'm creating a character whose main characteristic are to have a personality and courage in combat that inspires his companions to fight until the last breath. For that reason, I thought about making multiclass valor bard / battle master figher. What would be the best build?
I imagined starting out as a fighter, with the Protection fighting style (it fits perfectly with his characteristics). Then go to lvl 3 as a fighter and choose the Battle Master spec, allowing me the battle maneuvers Commander's Strike, Goading Attack and Rally. Then, multiclass to valor bard and continue in that class until the end, using bard spells like Faerie Fire, Healling Word and Heroism, in addition to bardic inspiration to buff the party. Having a save save CON also helps a lot to be able to cast these spells in the middle of the battle. My race would be half-elf with the following initial statuses (standart array):
Since the character concept is a tank that basically attracts enemies to him while boosts the party's abilities, would I lose too much by postponing the second attack that I would earn at lvl 5 fighter or lvl 6 valor bard? Do you think this is a bad concept? The image I have of my character is of Boromir from LOTR, protecting himself and his friends with a shield and playing a horn to encourage everyone.

Between this and the original on barbarian.
i think you got the right idea and gist with the fighter for 3 then bard.
the con save would be very nice for what you’re doing and intending. And it seems to fit your thematic vision better.
Another option would be a paladin. Paladins have great courage and inspire their allies to fight until the last breath. They also have spells and features to protect allies, from bless to the auras, and they are charisma based as well.
In my experience the protection fight style is the most disappointing of all fighting styles. It triggers rarely and can only protect from one attack per turn. It gives disadvantage, so there is still the possibility that your ally would be hit.
If you want to do something with your shield, the shield master fear is great, as it allows to use your bonus action every turn to impair enemy movement and attack.
i went with a lore bard, but i got hold of a belt of storm giants strength, so that, with a str. based longbow and the magicks i get as a bard, steel wind strike, etc. and later on to get tensers transformation, 2 of my bolts get you 6D8+16+str my black +3 leather light armor of invisibility and a buckler imbued with the shield spell.my ac maxes at 28 even with a con of 12(super bummer)i'm at around 179 HP having just hit lvl 20 thanks to a lot of good rolls. not the tankiest, but with the rest of what my character has, it's a hard time to hit him and guaranteed hit from him.
I think if you take fighter to 6 (asi) then you can easily go lore bard and get war caster.
If you stop at fighter 3 or 4 (asi) then I may not take them all right away. Fighter 1 and then bard 6 so you get extra attack at 7 instead of 9. However manuvers can be fun and fun trumps optimizing. If you think manuvers for two levels will be better then extra attack for 2 levels then go fighter 3 first. Either way I think at 9 should end up at 3 and 6. Fighter 4 is tempting for the extra asi but you will then lose your level 9 spell slot. (Your campaign may not go this long)
I have to agree with follacchioso that the Paladin might be a better fit with what you're trying to do. Take Paladin from 1-6, so you have heavy armour, shield, extra attack, their aura of "add my charisma modifier" maybe the defensive fighting style for extra AC, or dueling for extra melee damage.
In that configuration I'd start with Str 16, Dex 8, Con 14, Int 10, Wis 12, Cha 16. Half-Elves are just about the perfect race for Paladin. Then switch to Lore Bard at level 7.
If you want to play an instrument before then, either take the Entertainer background, or switch out one of the tools/language proficiencies for proficiency with an instrument, pick your favorite. For a armoured fighting man I might go with a horn, but take your pick.
Yeah, I also agree, a Paladin is exactly what I think you should choose, the best fit for what you're going for. But it depends if you want your character to be the more religious type, once again you don't always need to be a divine Paladin.
Good morning! I have been playing around with the idea of a very charismatic fighter who, either willingly or unwillingly, was sent to a Bardic college due to his talents with a lute and his beautiful singing voice. After roughly a year, he could produce magic, but not at the speed or quantity the college felt was necessary to continue study, and so decided that his scholorship would be removed. He would then plead with them and be accepted into their sister academy for Monks and Fighters. Heres where I get stuck. I want to play a support forward character. The martial prowress of the character isn't as important to me as his support based tanking. I plan to max out his constitution and take Tough at 4th level. Heres his
I'm playing a Varient Tiefling stats: Str: 13 Dex: 18 Con: 17 Int: 13 Wis: 14 Cha: 17

Personally, I would take fighter to level 6 or bard to level 6 before multiclassing. The power boosts at 5 and 6 are, to me, too much to delay.
Anyway, since you are now considering a bard/fighter multiclass, I would distribute my stats as such:
Another option would be a paladin. Paladins have great courage and inspire their allies to fight until the last breath. They also have spells and features to protect allies, from bless to the auras, and they are charisma based as well.
