This post is not really a question, a concern, or a view on bards, but more a sharing of my bard. One i have had a lot of fun playing, and have wanted to play for a while. One of my friends is finally hosting a game (i am a forever DM normally), and i got to try her out.
So, a long story short, my College of Valor Bard, Fidget, has the UA feat "Chef".
Time and effort spent mastering the culinary arts has paid off. You gain the following benefits:
Increase your Constitution or Wisdom score by 1, to a maximum of 20.
You gain proficiency with cook’s utensils if you don’t already have it.
As part of a short rest, you can cook special food, provided you have ingredients and cook’s utensils on hand. You can prepare enough of this food for a number of creatures equal to 4 + your proficiency bonus. At the end of the short rest, any creature who eats the food and spends one or more Hit Dice to regain hit points regains an extra 1d8 hit points.
With one hour of work or when you finish a long rest, you can cook a number of treats equal to your proficiency bonus. These special treats last 8 hours after being made. A creature can use a bonus action to eat one of those treats to gain temporary hit points equal to your proficiency bonus.
Fidget is a Yordle, and the campaign is based in the League of Legends universe. I started Fidget from Level 1 (she and the party are now level 5), to be a chef over all else. Her charm comes from her stuttering, naïve world view, and blatant desire to help anyone that needs it. Her whole adventuring goal started as a "i'm sick of my family restaurant, we keep getting these heroes who tell me of other far off places". When we meet NPCs, i am asking about their favorite food. I know my parties favorite foods by heart, and I have tried the "special" in every inn i have been to. If i see a foreigner, Fidget loses her stutter and becomes almost like a wizard in her focus, as she makes notes in her journal on foods to try to make. Our adventure has been stuck in Bildgewater so far, so mainly it's been fish dishes and such, but i have a full collection of notes of what i think the different worlds food are like. Noxus, has a very Russian style platter, with some hearty meats in there. Bandle City, has American style food. Mount Targon is very greek food, etc.
My DM has been very open in allowing me to just go "Oh wow! Your from Mount Targon? I hear you guys really like [blah blah blah]" to npcs. It gives the group a very light hearted and weird way of looking at the world. One of my party members is a hardcore and stoic Noxus captain, and him and his men drool at my food. Inn's in bildgewater pay me to make custom meals, which brings in all sorts of people from around town. The best part for Fidget however, is as an adventurer, she gets access to all sorts of weird stuff! Namely, i made a brilliant spitroast of Sea Serpent meat, freshly killed!
Tl;DR Me ranting about finally getting to play a food based, stuttering bard, instead of a musical, smooth talking bard. At the very least, i hope this post can inspire something for other people.
That would be a great feat for a party that traveled over land a bit. You can give them Song of Rest and the food treats and they get all kinds of HP back for "free".
I am going to be building my masterpiece stronghold later; a combination Tavern, Restaurant, Inn and Theater, and a Bardic College all in one. I want to hire you to be my primary chef for the restaurants (there will actually be two of them, and two taverns). The building is a larger version of the Globe Theater and the back half is dedicated to the theater, orchestra and Bardic College (of Lore).

Does she do performance cooking? Like Teppanyaki style grilling?
Canto alla vita
alla sua bellezza
ad ogni sua ferita
ogni sua carezza!
I sing to life and to its tragic beauty
To pain and to strife, but all that dances through me
The rise and the fall, I've lived through it all!
