Hey friends! I've got a pretty solid character idea that's been rattling around in my brain for a while, and I could use some other opinions. I've really been wanting to focus on the support capabilities of a Bard and build a Bard that can function as a main party healer. I'm already sold on College of Lore, since those extra Magical Secrets will come in handy to pick up some extra Cleric spells, but I keep trying to figure out a multiclass into Cleric that would work.
Life Domain immediately comes to mind, but a lot of the Domain spells overlap and it feel a little bland overall. I've been imagining this character as a teacher/academy nurse in a city with deep religious roots, so the Arcana Domain stood out to me and feels way more interesting flavor-wise, and offers some nice spell versatility. I'm thinking it would end up as a 14 Bard/6 Cleric split, but the order in which that happens could be done a few different ways.
I'd love to hear other suggestions, or if you've had any experiencing playing as/alongside a character like this and what that experience was like!
I have also considered a Bard that was closely tied to the Clergy because there is a great number of musical traditions that have religious roots and choir directors would be needed to coordinate the best use of these traditions. But my thinking was to have a Bard switch over to Cleric after a few levels. So the Cleric class level would ultimately become the (N)PCs primary vocation.
However, while this has ties to contemporary life, I don't know if this could become a fun PC. In D&D, healing is taking a back seat so I worry that playing the healer just isn't going to happen much. You'll need another thread to deal with that subject, and it has been hashed out several times already.
