I am new to the community, and I'm just looking for places to share my new character journal blog! I recently started playing in a new campaign and the DM gave me permission to blog our sessions in the form of a character journal and I just posted our first session!
A friendly commenter suggested I post here as the character I am playing is a Dwarven Bard named Asotta (although that is not her real name, you'll have to find out that story by reading!).
Thank you! I am really enjoying being a front line caster (although still getting used to the fact that bards actually have bonus action spells!!) What kind of build are you considering?
I'm not really sure! My group has only had one session so far and it was all roleplay. It was also kind of a session zero. I only have one real offensive spell (the others are support or utility), so I think my bard is probably going to be fighting mainly with her rapier.
I am writing a story about a Dwarven Cleric going away from his home, a mining village in a mountain, for the first time as a level 1 cleric to establish a "church" in a neighboring town dominated by humans. The humans are mostly agricultural folk so their church is devoted to nature and agricultural things. The dwarves would like this fellow to establish a church dedicated to a god of industrial pursuits, so it could include agriculture but they think of it more like mining, smelting, smithing and crafting.
This dwarf, having lived in the mountain his whole life has two peculiar traits. He has been outside, but very little, so he knows about sunlight and green grass and all that, but it isn't familiar to him. So one of his traits is he is a bit light sensitive when it is a clear day and the sun if very full during the middle of the day. The second trait is he is always too hot living on the outside in the months where temperatures get much above fifty. In his cavern, the temperature stays near fifty degrees F all the time, day or night, no matter what season. So he is not accustomed to the temperature swings on the outside. I make reference to these two things from time to time just to show he is not totally an outsider.
I thought you might think those are interesting background bits for your dwarf too.
Good story so far, and I am looking forward to more.

@MusicScout I love the background traits - Particularly the low light level one. Asotta came from an area of the world that is naturally very hot, so she is used to warmer temperatures, but I would say that she might have some light sensitivity. Might be a bit late to work in at this point, but definitely something to consider!
Excellent! I started one for my first campaign and enjoyed it, but then we stopped playing for quite a while and when we restarted I stopped taking notes so...that kinda died. I really hope I can keep it up for this one.

I like it so far! I'm planning to play a dwarven bard in an upcoming campaign too.

@onyxmissa Nice! I like the support type spell caster so far - we are still low level but I am really looking forward to deciding on some fun spells.

Thanks so much for reading!
Interesting... I wonder if they could be lying about not being pirates?
I think I'm going to start a character journal of my own-we had a very interesting session yesterday.

Welcome! I am new to the whole 'D&D Beyond' community - but have been playing D&D for about 6 years now.
What did you like most about your bard?
