Haven't played in years, but I've kept up to date on 5e. I'm going to play a Twilight domain cleric and I'm looking to see what races would be a good fit. Hill dwarf is an option, but I'm not a huge fan of playing a dwarf. Stats will be point buy.
If your DM allows the twilight sanctuary to be filled with dim light regardless of exterior lighting then play a sunlight sensitive character like Drow/kobold who is trying to bridge their dark world with the light.
Before deciding to play a twilight cleric discuss the consequences with the rest of the players. Twilight cleric is the most powerful subclass in the game and creates issues for both the dm and other players.
For example twilight sanctuary provides everyone with so many temporary hit points that it makes other sources obsolete, some players will love that but if or example someone goes vhuman and takes inspiring leader they will feel it is a waste, and the armorer will very rarely get to use
All those temporary hit points also means that what would normally be a tough fight becomes trivial, to give you a challenge the dm will need to buff up the monsters so their damage will do more than take off the temporary hit points which they will get back on their next turn. He could also do something to try to incapacitate you (eg hold person) but that would make the outcome of the battle very dependent on whether you make your save. Also at early levels if you have more than one fight per short rest you want have TS for every fight so the dm has to guess when you will use it and adjust things on the fly if he guesses wrong. It takes a very experienced dm to deal with such things.
If you do go twilight cleric pick a race for flavour or role play you do not need to optimize further.

I've decided on Harengon for the race.
