I've been playing and enjoying the Twilight Cleric subclass. This may be a trivial question, but I've been rolling the temp HP as I activate the Twilight Sanctuary and then using that number as the amount at the end of every player's turn. However I've seen others say they roll it every time a player's turn finishes. Does this matter? It seems a bit laborious to roll it, or have the players roll it, 5 times a round.
Rolling it once on your turn and then giving it on their turn , as long as you are consistent, would be a reasonable way to manage it at a table to keep play moving. As an ability its already a bit much to manage and its interruptions into play might be better served this way. Just work with your DM on how they think it would work best. If this is how you were playing with it ask if this works for them.
This is my current class and I was rolling it every time. However I would say as long as you and your DM agree on how you want to roll that should be fine. I don't think it would make a difference.
When we had a Twilight cleric in our group, we the players rolled ourself at the end of our turn.
It is easier for the individual player to keep track of how many temp HP they have, and since it doesn't stack, if you rolled a 4 the round before, and roll a 3 now, then you wouldn't get any temp hp anyway (assuming you didn't take damage)
Does this feature have a duration? I don't think it does (at least now, in 2022). So once you give temp HP, those HP are in effect until they are diminished or a Long Rest (Unless specified otherwise, temporary hit points last until they are depleted or you finish a long rest.) If they don't use the temp HP, the initial roll or part thereof (if some damage was taken less than the total) remains in effect until the total temp HP have been used up or a Long Rest has been completed. You don't have to roll every round.

Hi,

Thanks
Whenever a creature ends its turn in the sphere, you can grant it temporary hit points equal to 1d6 plus your cleric level. It's rolled everytime.
