I've been wondering about atheist-type clerics and paladins and then thought of this as a potentially fun way to explain divine-type powers.
As things are, paladins are etymologically based as the champions of the palace and could be viewed as drawing power from their contexts as variants of oath of the crown.
It then occurred to me that a working of clerics might go further with a further take of the view that "Clerics are intermediaries between the mortal world and the distant planes ...". On this basis, couldn't that plane be centered on your game session? Other player characters might wonder why all their bizarrely conflicting personalities are bonding together while those of a Gridblocks-type faith will have their own takes as to why this happens.
What subclasses of cleric fit best with a Gridblocks faith? How could it be incorporated, or would it?
