I am a relatively new DM for a party currently doing "Lost Mine of Phandelver". Together, my party members are a Human Fighter, a Kobold Ranger, a Dragonborn Evocation Wizard, a Triton Rouge, a Wood Elf Druid, and a Tabaxi Nature Cleric. The problem that we have is that we can't have our Cleric fill the Tank niche from Cleric 101, as our Wizard has already filled it. Is there any way I could help a Nature Cleric fill a Support role without too many awkward complications?
You can't have the Cleric fill that role? I have rarely ever seen a problem with "too many tanks" in a party.
Depending on the Cleric's Strength score (ie: if Wisdom is better). Shillelagh is way for anyone to be decent in combat without making it a primary focus.
The positives of being a Cleric is you can always fallback on Support. I wouldn't push your Cleric not to be tanky, just remind the Cleric that there is plenty of room to add support.
I wouldn't put too much mind on the blog's roles and how it divides things. You can be whatever position you want to be, as long as the group is having fun. Don't think in terms of roles, just think in terms of what would be the most interesting to play as.
I'm confused as to why your Wizard is the tank; isn't the tank's job to take hits so other members of the party don't? How the hell is a Wizard going to manage that?! Also, as for the Cleric, sure he/she can be support, just pick the correct spells, and the Cleric can be a support character no problem...

Yeah the great thing about Clerics and Druids and Wizards with large enough spellbooks is they get to be whatever they want to be on a day by day basis by simply changing their spell selection. They may not be As good at it as if they had gone "all in" on the concept, but they can fill any role servicably enough. I don't understand the issue here, clearly, here's hoping for a little clarification.

Good question, Bob the Dragon (our wizard in question) has more hitpoints than the rest of our party so he does fit the tank role. He also causes damage in tank style with evocation magic and gigantic weapons like battleaxes and mauls. Thanks for the advice on the cleric you guys. You are all the best!
