Under 2014 rules, there are several Cleric subclasses that provide heavy armor proficiency: Forge, Life, Nature, Order, Tempest, Twilight, and War. However, of these, only the Life Domain is available in the 2014 Basic Rules (i.e., all the others are "paid content" as OP put it).
Under 2024 rules, Cleric subclasses no longer provide any armor or weapon proficiency. Instead, the Cleric class has a level 1 feature called "Divine Order" which allows choosing between two options, one of which provides heavy armor training and martial weapon proficiency, and can be used with any subclass.
